Im neuesten Source-Update von MAME gibt es folgende Änderungen:
NOTE: The cheat engine is disabled as of this version. It is
currently undergoing a desperately-needed complete redesign and
rewrite from scratch. By the time 0.127 is ready, we should have
support for the vast majority of existing cheats working once
dknute hat eine neue Testversion des Sega Dreamcast Emulators Makaron freigegeben.
Here is Makaron Test 9 for your pleasure. There are lots of internal changes, but nothing revolutionary - so don't expect it to be much better/faster compared to earlier versions. From user point of view, it's almost the same as T8. Quite frankly the only reason I'm releasing it is to test ...

TAKE ON THE WORLD!
Okay, so most of SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis for you US folks) aren't that playable. Too many graphics bug for one - the emulator makes heavy use of PVR OIT capability. Sound will usually get ugly when heavy action starts even though it's fine in menus. And there are other nasty problems as well, like falling through floors in alternate Prince of Persia.
But some games do work well enough (too bad Lotus 2 RECS is not one of them :)
By the way, I can't shake that crazy idea of connecting a hard drive to Dreamcast off my mind. I'm pretty sure it can be done. Basically all that's needed is some hardware to translate SEGA Packet Interface commands into HDD reads, and that's exactly what Makaron's GD module is doing. Right now there is logical link on register level but I'm confident I can extend it to handle singal layer as well. I do have some experience with ATA/ATAPI hardware.
At first I was thinking of FPGA to handle the ATA part, but perhaps a fast clocked ARM7 would suffice - I need research it some more and see what kind of latency I can expect. I really don't have time for this though... but if there's anyone out there with the money, skills and time and wants to try - contact me. I'll help :)
I feel like I could...
ScummVM works now (except the newest 0.10 version which is known to have sound problems on the Dreamcast port). Thanks to it crashing frequently on T8 I managed to nail down a bug in the MT version of Makaron.
Running emulator inside emulator is fun! Also, FreeSCI 0.3.5 port is actually performing better on Makaron than the native PC version...
SEGA Genesis emu works as well. I'll update tomorrow with some pictures.
Work on nullDC (A Dreamcast emulator for Windows) has been steadily progressing recently.
Modifier Volumes (modvols) have been implemented, giving many games shadows which where originally missing. Notable games effected include Dead or Alive 2 (LE), Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur and Sonic Adventure 2, yes folks, King Boom Boo now shows up when he's a shadow!
Clipping has been worked on to, Ikaruga now has its borders, Sonic Adventure 2's split screen mode now works correctly (along with many other split screen games), Dynamite Cop's portaits screen displays the background, rather than a mess of portraits and Soul Calibur's VS screens now behave correctly.
Last but not least, Render to Texture (rtt) has had some work done to it! Silent Scope now displays cross hairs whilst playing, Crazy taxi's pause menu is no longer just a black screen, and various effects used in Dead or Alive 2 (LE) are now rendered!
Please note this is still on going WIP, and none of the above features are complete yet.

Vom Arcade Emulator Raine gibt es folgende WIP News.
This page describes changes, from several programmers, that have been submitted to the RAINE team. Feel free to use any information or screenshots present here, on your site.
Keep in mind, that altough these are submitted changes to the RAINE source code, they might not be included in the next official release for several reasons, for example, some may break existing drivers, contain a serious bug that will cause RAINE to crash, etc.
In short, it tries to make the gui transparency usefull by showing a picture of the currently selected game (the picture is taken from the screenshot directory). So it replaces the aging snapshots of the allegro version. It's a very old idea I had when Zaxxon created the snapshots at first.
The size of the font on the picture is entirely optional, I chose quite a small one here.
It's not finished obviously, still no rom directory selection for now ! I am thinking about adding some crazy stuff like downloading a picture from the web if it's not available in the screenshots directory...
Also I have added scale3x to the software blits. Now scaling can be automatic, it allows raine to select the best scaling method available for the current video mode. It allows me to play bubble boble fullscreen in a 1024x768 framebuffer console in linux ! Smiley
Still a lot to do, but some nice progress anyway...
